If you don't already know, Ai Weiwei is probably the most (in)famous contemporary Chinese artist. Having dabbled in sculpture, installation, architecture, curating, and photography amongst others, collaborated with Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron on the Beijing National Stadium for the 2008 Olympics, having his installations showcased at the Venice Biennale are just some of his many accolades. His often politically-charged works reflects his harsh criticisms on the Chinese government, which, naturally, did not sit too well with the latter and even saw his arrest on 3rd April 2011 at the Beijing Capital International Airport.

All that aside, Ai Weiwei may have been the most well-known, but there are others who have made a name for themselves in China and around the world. Here are some of our top picks.

Besides clothes being the centrepiece of any fashion show, let's not forget the intricate set designs that come along with it. Here are some of the Anue team's favourite sets...

An avid lover of architecture and design, I was in awe when I came across the explicitly wonderful interview, filmed by NOWNESS.com, of Spanish architect and designer Partricia Urquiola. Albeit a feature of her Milanese home, she lightly touched based on a subject I was quite surprised to hear her include; the reign of sexism, or in this case, the lack thereof.

Here in the office we quite often bounce around ideas, thoughts & inspirations. This week, we thought it would a good idea to take the approach of "sharing-is-caring", so here is what's currently inspiring the Anue team this week.

Black and white photographs can be a good source of inspiration for anyone in the creative industry, when all colour is stripped from a photo, allowing the viewer eye's to notice the forms, shapes, and emotions of a photograph. Think Ansel Adams landscapes, Richard Avedon portraits, Henri Cartier-Bresson street snaps, etc.

Muted pastel colours, lush fabrics, soft artworks, hints of gold and a touch of marble is all you need for a fantasty affair inspired by these Parisian interiors. Take cues from these 5 places and you won't even have to leave your home for your next getaway (we suggest ordering a topless butler & a basket of macaroons to complete the story...)
